In February 2026, Pay It Now PNG travelled to Hong Kong for Consensus Hong Kong 2026, held from 10 to 12 February at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organised by CoinDesk, Consensus is one of Asia’s largest gatherings on digital finance and emerging technology. It brings together founders, investors, regulators and engineers from around the world.
Our focus was the AI & Robotics Summit, one of the conference’s dedicated programme tracks. It examined how artificial intelligence, autonomous agents and robotics are coming together with digital payments and next-generation financial infrastructure. For a FinTech building for Papua New Guinea, these sessions gave a valuable look at where the industry is heading. They covered smarter fraud detection, automated customer service, and new ways of moving money securely and cheaply.
Events like Consensus also let us connect with people building the next generation of financial technology across Asia and beyond. We came home with new contacts, fresh ideas, and a clearer view of how these technologies could be adapted to PNG’s needs, including in remote and underserved communities.
